Baggy and swollen under eyes can seriously undermine your natural beauty, and make you look tired and unattractive all times. Puffy eyes are very common among old people, but it can happen to anyone irrespective of the age. Some of the major causes for baggy eyes include stress, insomnia, old age, unhealthy food habits, dermatitis, and sinus infections.

The first step to get rid of your puffy eyes would be to identify the real reason behind it and rectify it. Once you have successfully established the cause and started working on it, you can use the following simple and natural remedies at home to speed up the healing process.

1 Tea Bags

Soak two tea bags in warm water for around 5 minutes, and place the warm tea bags over your eyelids. Cover your face with a soft cloth and leave it on for around 30 minutes.

Why does this work?

Caffeine present in the tea bags will help reduce the fluid accumulation around your eyes.

2 Essential oils

Mix a drop of lavender oil, lemon oil, chamomile oil, and 1 tsp of water together. Use this mixture to gently massage your eyes before going to sleep at night, and let it absorb overnight.

These essential oils have a soothing effect on your skin, and it has anti-inflammatory properties. This helps to reduce the puffiness around your eyes.

3 Witch Hazel

Soak a cotton pad in witch hazel solution, wring it and place the pads over your eyes for 15 minutes. Repeat this process two to three times daily.

Witch hazel solution is a natural astringent, and it has skin lighting property which helps to quickly heal puffiness around your eyes.

4 Coconut oil

Soak your fingers in clean virgin coconut oil and using your fingers gently massage around your eyes in a circular motion for 5 to 10 minutes before going to sleep and leave it overnight.

Coconut oil has anti-inflammatory properties and essential nutrients that nourish your skin and help you get rid of baggy eyes.

5 Ground coffee beans

Mix 1/2 tsp of Ground coffee bean powder, a pinch of black pepper powder, and 1 tsp of coconut oil together and make it into a paste. Apply this paste around your eyes and leave it on for 15 minutes before washing it off.

This paste contains caffeine and other compounds that nourishes and increases blood circulation around your eyes. This will help you to get rid of puffy eyes.

6 Baking Soda

Mix 1 tsp of baking soda in 1 cup of water, soak cotton pads in it, wring it, place it over your eyes for 15 minutes. After 15 mins remove the pads and rinse your face with water.

Baking soda increases the blood circulation, it brightens the skin under your eyes, and it reduces eye bags.

7 Cucumber

Place cool refrigerated cucumber slices over your eyes for 15 minutes. Do this several times a day until you notice substantial results.

Cucumber is well known for its cooling effect on your skin, plus it reduces irritation and relaxes the skin surface which reduces eye bags.

8 Egg White Mask

Brush the egg whites under your eyes, let it dry for 10 to 15 minutes, and wash it off using fresh water. Do this once a day.

Egg whites have skin tightening properties that help to get rid of wrinkles and eye bags.

9 Aloe Vera Gel

Apply fresh aloe vera gel under your eyes, let it stay for 10 to 15 minutes, and rinse it off using fresh water. Do this twice a day.

Aloe vera is rich in antioxidants and essential vitamins that help to reduce the puffiness under your eyes.

10 Petroleum Jelly

Take some petroleum jelly, gently massage your under eyes using it for about 10 minutes before going to bed, and leave it overnight. Do this every night before going to sleep.

Petroleum jelly heals the skin damage and moisturizes your skin. This helps to reduce puffiness under your eyes.
