Cellulite is plain old fat that has bunched up in little pockets. The popular notion of vacuuming it out is an appeal more to vanity than to good health. Whether or not those mechanical shortcuts work in the long run is still open to debate.
But if you are really serious about shedding the cellulite (along with the extra pounds it represents), you need to get the proper diet and exercise.
1 Eat Fruits and Vegetables
Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. They detoxify the body, plus they are low in calories and loaded with nutrients.
2 Keep Yourself Hydrated
Drink lots of water. Often say top nutritionists, people with cellulite don’t drink enough. Six to eight glasses of water per day (minimum) tends to open up the blood vessels just below the skin level where most cellulite hides and helps flush it out. At the same time, reduce the salt in your diet. That makes your body retain water and adds to the cellulite problem.
3 Exercise
Some light, muscle building workouts tone up the tissues where cellulite ordinarily collects, so it doesn’t have room to form. Meanwhile, reinforce that exercise by dry-brushing your skin to improve circulation. Massage such cellulite prone areas as the thighs and buttocks.
Schedule exercise sessions before meals. Researchers at New York’s mount binary hospital say you burn off more calories working out on an empty stomach.
4 Breathing Exercise
Practice deep breathing. Oxygen burns fat while cleaning out toxic carbon dioxide from body cells, making them less hospitable to cellulite.
5 Get the Fibre in Your Diet
Some holistic specialists have found that people who frequently suffer from constipation are more likely to develop cellulite. If you do, help yourself with a high fiber diet (lots of green vegetables and grains) to keep food moving through the system.
6 Get Moving
Get on the move. that doesn’t mean running a marathon. Any activity (walking, climbing stairs, strenuous housework) for at least an hour a day, helps burn off the cellulite globs.
7 Gardening
Take up gardening and benefit three ways – get the exercise you need, be outdoors in the fresh air to stimulate deep breathing, and grow your own veggies.
8 Encourage Walking more
Park your car at least a half mile from your work and walk. At the mall, forget about finding a parking spot closest to the door. Park away from the entrance and walk the rest of the way.
