Wheat rava upma tastes better if you can add more vegetables and add right amount of spices to it, since it is rich in fibre content over regular Rava or semolina, its good for your health and digestion, its an excellent food for those who are in diet as well. It can be had as a breakfast or as a dinner. Quite easy to make and it takes very little time to prepare.
Ingredients
1 cup – Wheat Rava
1/4 cup – Carrot (chopped in to small cubes)
1/4 cup – Green peas
1/4 cup – boiled potato (chopped in to small cubes)
2 nos – green chillies
1 tsp – ginger (finely chopped)
1 nos – medium sized onion (chopped in to small pieces)
1.5 tbsp – cooking oil
1 tsp – mustard seeds
1 tsp – cumin seeds
1 no – red chilli
1 pinch – asafoetida
10 nos – curry leaves
1 tsp – lemon extract
coriander leaves for garnishing
salt to taste
Instruction to cook Wheat Rava Upma
Step 1: Roast the wheat rava in hot pan till it smells good and keep it separate.
Step 2: Use the same pan and add 1 tbsp of oil and heat it well
Step 3: Saute mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli, asafoetida and curry leaves
Step 4: Now add chopped onion, green chillies, ginger and cook till onion becomes golden brown in color
Step 5: Once the onion has cooked add the chopped carrots, peas, potato pieces and some salt to taste and cook it for 4 to 5 minutes
Step 6: Now add 2 cups of water and bring it to boil
Step 7: When it gets to boiling, add the wheat rava little by little while stirring constantly.
Step 8: In low flame let it cook for 20 minutes
Step 9: Before turning off the flame, add the lemon extract and coriander leaves for garnishing.
